The mission of the Joni and Friends Christian Institute on Disability (CID) is to impact the Church, Christian and public institutions, and societies with a biblical worldview and life-giving truth on issues pertaining to life, dignity, justice, and equality that affect people with disabilities.

The CID is aggressively promoting life, human dignity and the value of all individuals – despite their disabling condition–from a biblical perspective and through Beyond Suffering curriculum and classes.

Education & Training Center: Preparing ministers, Christian leaders and students to evangelize, include and empower those affected by disability. Degree programs and coursework, from grassroots training to higher education, are designed to equip a new generation of leaders for effective ministry. One of the primary goals of the Beyond Suffering course is to address this issue by preparing leaders in ministry, education, medicine and science to become involved in this life-changing disability ministry.

Internship Program: The Internship program prepares today’s emerging and next generation Christian leaders for ministry, missions, advocacy, and justice for people affected by disability around the world. Our internships educate individuals on the biblical view of disability; provide training for church ministry, community outreach, and global missions; and mentors individuals in Christian leadership. Each intern is equipped and empowered to move forward in his or her life’s calling.

International Family Retreats: Joni and Friends offers hope and help to struggling families affected by disability through International Family Retreats (IFRs). In partnership with local churches, the Gospel message is demonstrated on a personal level as families experience Christ-centered encouragement and acceptance at an accessible family camp.

The Christian Institute on Disability is educating and training a new generation of church leaders to protect the dignity of all people in the sight of God.
