On Monday, January 24, Joni and Ken spoke at the first "Theology of Suffering and Disability" class at Talbot Seminary on the campus of Biola University. The idea for this groundbreaking one-week intensive was spearheaded by Dr. Kathy McReynolds of our Joni and Friends' Christian Institute on Disability. The CID team is dedicated to developing partnerships with other seminaries and Bible colleges across the country through curriculum development and disability-ministry courses of study.

As the U.S. prepares to mark the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and all that it has accomplished toward accommodating individuals with disabilities, the Joni and Friends Christian Institute on Disability (CID) furthers the work of the 1990 legislation by educating and influencing opinions and attitudes about individuals with disabilities, which is where real change must come in order to have true equality.

650 Biola Grads Turn Their Tassels

In La Mirada, nearly 650 undergraduates received their degrees Saturday morning during the 2010 commencement ceremony at Biola University.

This year's keynote speaker was Joni Eareckson Tada, founder of the Joni and Friends International Disability Center that aims to accelerate Christian ministry among the disabled community. Receiving honorary doctorates this year were Tada and Billy Kim, pastor emeritus of one of Korea's largest churches and a senior Christian statesman/international leader, who spoke at Friday's commencement ceremony for Biola's 350 graduate students.
